Cryotech’s vacuum jacketed pipe key to made to order ice cream
Campbell, CA (March 31, 2009) Cryotech International, Inc., a leader in cryogenic systems, recently designed and supplied a liquid nitrogen (LN2) delivery system to iCream Café in Chicago, IL where customers can watch as their ice cream is made to order.
Early on in the process, Cryotech partnered with iCream to fully understand the multi-station production requirements of the store. “Producing consistently high quality products required an instantaneous supply of pure liquid nitrogen in exact time increments” states Neal Schinske, Cryotech regional sales manager. “Preliminary designs had to be refined to the point where all stations had reliable, on-demand liquid nitrogen.” This unique delivery system taps into Cryotech’s specialty LN2 equipment including a multi-outlet phase separator, vacuum insulated CrytoechFlex hoses and high flow liquid nitrogen dosing equipment with select nozzles. Cryotech worked with iCream to complete the integration of the system with iCream’s proprietary production software.
“For a company that often serves aerospace, biotech, defense and other high-tech industries, ice cream was a welcome change of pace”, states Gary Sandercock, President of Cryotech and chief ice cream tester. “We were able to use our detailed knowledge of liquid nitrogen delivery systems to satisfy the unique production needs for a specialty application.”
